7  Journaling prompts to create a vision for your life

Journaling is an extremely powerful way of accessing your subconscious mind.
Accessing your subconscious mind is something that will help you if you want to create a vision for your life. So how can you use journaling prompts to create a vision for your life?

You heard me say that before: If you want to change your life (aka living your dream life), you must have a clear vision of what that would look like. It is like going on holiday. Simply putting the wish out there “to be somewhere else right now” will not do the trick. You will have to start thinking about where you want to go (staying in the region or going overseas), what you would like to do (beach or hiking) and what else is important to you (fancy hotel vs. flexible camper van).

It´s the same with creating your dream life.

But what if you are not sure yet what you want your life to look like? What if all that you think right now is: “I just want to be somewhere else right now!”?

A great way to start creating a vision for your life is to journal.

You can do that freestyle and just write down what comes to your mind (a beautiful way to connect with your subconscious mind), or you can use journaling prompts as support.

I have put together my favorite journaling prompts that will help you to start dreaming and let this vision of your life become tangible and concrete.

Let´s have a look!

7 journaling prompts to connect to your vision

These seven journaling prompts are my favorites to identify desires and dreams.

1 - TODAY I WANT TO INVITE .... IN MY LIFE

This prompt helps you to identify what you would like to experience more of in your life. This can be a sensation, something tangible, a feeling, or a thought. Bonus question: How can I invite this into my life today?

2 - IF I COULD TEACH THE WORLD ONE THING, IT WOULD BE ..…

With this question, you get clear on what excites you. What is the thing that you can´t stop thinking of and talking about? What do you think is so important that you need to share it with the world?

3 -  I AM ON THIS PLANET TO …..

This is a big one! Don’t get discouraged if nothing specific is showing up when you write about this the first time. Start easy. “I am on this planet to be happy.” or “I am on this planet to do good in the world.” is a good start. Stick to this question for a couple of days. Over time your answers will get more specific.

4 - WHAT WOULD I DO IF THERE WAS NO FEAR?

This is one of my absolute favorites! It allows you to send fear away (our biggest internal censor) and dream big! So what would you do, if there was no fear?

5 - WHAT DOES MY PERFECT DAY LOOK LIKE?

This journaling prompt is a classic and very powerful. It allows you to create your dream day and tap into what is important for you to have in your life. Get specific with this one: What would you do, what kind of conversations would you have, what would you wear, what would your house look like, what food would you eat,...

6 -  MY BIG FIVE IN LIFE ARE …..

Based on the book “The Big Five for Life” by John Strelecky, this journaling question prompts you to go deep. What is truly important to you in your life? What are your top 5 goals in life?

7 - THIS MAKES MY SOUL FEEL ALIVE …..

With this question, you go deep. What are your true desires? What makes you feel alive? What sparks joy and excites you? What do you need to feel happy, safe, nurtured, inspired? Let your subconscious mind guide you!

How to use journaling to connect to your vision?

Journaling is easy. Just grab a notebook and start writing.
To get the most out of this exercise, here are some tips for you.

The time of the day

Write when it feels best for you. Personally, I am a big fan of my journaling routine in the morning. My mind is still fresh and the connection to my subconscious mind is unclouded. However, if you feel that the evenings are better for you, then use the latter part of the day to write down your thoughts. There is no right or wrong.,

Make it a beautiful ritual

Do you know how I journal? Usually with my multicolor pen and my favorite Moleskine notebook while sipping a cup of tea. Doing the inner work is such a beautiful exercise - so make it a beautiful ritual. Candles, music, your cuddle blanket? Bring it on!

Stick to it

Accessing your subconscious mind can take some time. So stick to your journaling routine. Make it a habit. Don´t get discouraged if your answers are really vague in the beginning. If you journal on a regular basis, you will go deeper and your dreams will unfold more in detail over time.

Stay curious

Allow your subconscious mind to come forward. To help it with that it is important that you stay open and curious about what is showing up. Don´t judge what you are writing down, simply observe what you bring to paper. This exercise is about dreaming - how you can turn that into reality is another step of the process.

Let me know how this is going fand which journaling prompt you found the most inspiring or useful!

I am sending you lots of love!
